Develops strategies to promote behavioral health for youth and adults in Broward County through needs assessments, capacity building, implementation of evidence based prevention program and activities.

The United Way of Broward County Commission on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention works to unite the key community stakeholders in Broward County through its action teams to develop prevention strategies and action plans that address specific substance abuse and mental health concerns.

Our Action Teams are open to the community!

Surveillance

  • Shares and provides emerging drug trend data and actionable information to our community

Community Response Team (CRT)

  • Works to combat the opiate epidemic and other emerging drug trends in our community

Be Healthy Broward/Mental Health Promotion Action Team (BHB MHPAT)

  • Works to promote mental health by working with the treatment and wellness community to integrate systems of care which address mental health risk factors and increase prevention services

Youth Action Team (YAT)

  • Works to reduce marijuana, alcohol and other drug use by youth

Latino Initiative (LI)

  • Works to reduce alcohol and other drug use among children and youth by providing prevention information and parenting trainings to the Hispanic community

Weston Alliance for Youth (WAY)

  • Works to prevent substance abuse and promote mental health for the youth of the City of Weston

Broward Youth Coalition (BYC)

  • Works to educate and empower youth to become change agents of influence among their peers and within their communities as it relates to drug prevention and mental health promotion

Faith-Based/Community-Based Advisory Committee

  • A collaboration among interfaith-based and community organizations to provide resources and strengthen families in the area of behavioral/mental health struggles and illness in our community.
