Broward Reads: The Campaign For Grade-Level Reading

http://www.homereadinghelper.org/In 2014, Broward County joined the national Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR) to increase the number of children reading at grade level by the time they complete grade 3. The Children’s Services Council of Broward County convened community partners with leadership and support from the Broward County Commission, Broward County Public Schools, Broward County Library System, Early Learning Coalition, United Way, Family Central, Jim Moran Foundation, A.D. Henderson Foundation, Community Foundation of Broward and others to form the Broward Reads Coalition – Campaign for Grade Level Reading (Broward Reads), now a formal component of the Broward County Children’s Strategic Plan.

Intensive In-Home Services - Special Population | Juliana Gerena & Associates

Family-based, in-home therapeutic program provided by Master’s level therapists using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to serve families with children with sexual behavioral conditions residing in their home. Services include comprehensive assessments, the development of a safety plan, individual and family counseling, case management, and therapeutic parent and youth group sessions.

Intensive In-Home Services - Special Population | Smith Community Mental Health

In-home therapy and case management services provided 1-2 times per week by Master’s level therapists with specific ability to work with families with youth having behavioral problems. Program uses the Alternatives for Families-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) approach .

Jewish Adoption & Foster Care Options (JAFCO)

Intensive, in-home therapeutic program provided for up to 10 hours per week by highly-trained Multi-Systemic Therapy Master’s level clinicians to serve families with youth at risk of delinquency or youth with a history of delinquent behavior.

Juvenile Assessment Center | Broward Sheriff’s Office

As a part of the Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) Collaborative Project, the Broward Sheriff’s Office provides coordination, oversight and direct services to allow the JAC to operate 24/7 as a multi-agency, collaborative central point of entry to the juvenile justice system. Youth referred for law violations in Broward County are delivered to the JAC by law enforcement are provided coordinated, centralized processing and timely comprehensive individual assessment.

KID FIRST | Kids In Distress

In-home program provided weekly to serve families at risk of abuse and neglect. Program comprised of three components: 1) Case Management, 2) Supportive Counseling and 3) Parent Education using the Strengthening Families curriculum.

Kidcare Outreach | KidCare Outreach

The Children’s Services Council provides support for the Broward County Health Department to deliver personalized assistance to prospective KidCare enrollees and answer the many calls to 954-INSURES. KidCare outreach staff have forged partnerships with governmental and community-based organizations to promote the program and serves as the leading source of application distribution to Broward schools and child care facilities.

KidVision/WPBT | Channel 2

With WPBT’s KidVision VPK, teachers watch, learn, play and integrate the Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Standards through entertaining and educational virtual field trips that appeal to both adults and children. Teachers learn the standards and then add them as another dimension to their classroom curriculum. The program’s goal is that adults will be knowledgeable about what children need to be learning to prepare them for kindergarten and life.
