Help all students and teachers get what they need to have a successful school year! Your $35 donation outfits a child in need with uniform, shoes, backpack and supplies. The events are on July 28th and August 4th, so please contribute soon!

BOSS (Best Opportunity to Shine & Succeed) | Plantation High School

21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC), LEAP, and Best Opportunity to Shine & Succeed (BOSS) High programs are offered at eleven (11) Broward County Public high schools. Services include structured academic support, credit recovery, end-of-course exam and ACT/SAT Preparation, adult and family services, personal enrichment activities to improve school engagement and attendance, and career readiness.

Broward Training Collaborative | CSC Broward County

The Broward Training Collaborative is powered by the CSC and offers quality and affordable training workshops for professionals serving children and families in Broward County. Each session is led by instructors that are highly qualified and experienced in their field to provide an optimal learning environment. CEU’s are also offered for many of the completed courses. Intensive, therapeutic program using the best practice model, Functional Family Therapy (FFT). In-home services, provided by highly-trained Master’s level clinicians, serve families with youth ages 10-18 at risk of delinquency or youth with a history of delinquent behavior.

In-home parenting education provided once per week by Bachelor’s or Master’s level staff using the Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP) curriculum and/or the Circle of Security Model to serve families at risk of abuse and neglect.

In-home therapy program provided 1-2 times per week by Master’s level staff using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to serve families at risk of abuse and neglect. Case management and parenting education also provided using the NPP curriculum.
Cribs for Kids | Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County

In 2003, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published a report that estimated that the risk of infant suffocation increases 20-fold when infants and adults sleep in the same bed. Cribs for Kids provides low-income families with free GRACO Pack ‘n Play® cribs, one crib sheet, and a safe-sleep sack, and counsels parents on the dangers of co-sleeping.

Drowning Prevention | Broward County Health Department

Drowning Prevention is a collaborative community effort driven by the Drowning Prevention Task Force. In 2009, the Children’s Services Council allocated funding to support a full-time coordinator housed at the Broward County Health Department who provides insight and accountability for the implementation of the Drowning Prevention Action Plan. Task Force members create a culture throughout Broward that infuses drowning prevention methodologies, practices, and messages that directly impact families with young children.

The greatest tool you can give a child is the ability to persuade and speak with confidence. Being that my YIG experience positively impacted my emotional literacy skills, I would like to pass these on to those who are less fortunate.
